Julie & Julia

Immediately after watching this movie, I decided I wanted to be a chef. I wanted to cook phenomenal food that no palate in the world had ever experienced. But I was too tired and the next morning I was back to reality.

Julie & Julia provides a look into the things--better, the people--who inspire us; in aspiring toward those idols, we often reach the greatest heights of ourselves. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams play charming women with a zest for the spice in life. They both embody the resilience that transport us through life's challenges. They craft mouth-watering delicacies that make you want to eat through the TV. Meryl Streep's portrayal of Julia Child so closely approximates the larger-than-life woman that you almost believe the great chef is once again on your TV screen in all her buttery friendliness. Julie and Julia is one of those films in which one helping might just not be quite enough :)

  1. Meryl Streep may very well win an Oscar for this role. I think she will get the nod for this one over her role in "It's Complicated". She's up for a Golden Globe for both roles which probably dimishes her chances to win since 2 nods will split the vote. She embodied Julia Child in every sense of the word. Nailed it, as usual!

  2. I never watched Julia Child. I only knew her from bad impersonations. I enjoyed getting a feel for her personality, with her peculiar mix of flamboyance and self-deprecating humor. I had no idea that she was a pioneer among woman chefs. My respect for her grew by leaps and bounds. My respect for Meryl Streep has never lessened over the years.

  3. I just watched this movie and I loved it!!! I immediately cooked my own bruschetta because my mouth watered when Amy Adams made hers!!! I now intend to read Julia Child's 'My life in France' to learn more about this amazing woman. It was heart warming, appetizing, and made me get in touch with that softer side of my nature that includes nurturing and caring for others by providing them with wonderful meals.
