Does anyone else read the Scarpetta books by Cornwell? I loved the first, maybe, five books and felt they took a gradual, and then sharp nose dive. What does anyone else think? Her last book that also had Scarpetta as the title, was ok. I am on the library list for the latest book but do not have high hopes.
ReplyDeleteThe series has been going along for quite awhile and EVERY book seems to feature someone obsessed with Scarpetta for being a woman and being a medical examiner. I just think this is being pushed a little far, I mean how many people are going to be obsessed with this woman? The book before Scarpetta was so horrible I wrote a scathing review of it on several book sites. It was lazy, and held no truth to the characters she had created 20 years ago.
Anyway, my rant of the day! :)
I read one of her books a while ago and it was okay but didn't hold my interest enough to explore the whole series.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Heidi, as some time ago I started reading Stuart Woods' mysteries and found them to be increasingly formulaic and repetitive.
So glad you chimed in!
Miss you...
