public vs. private

Is anyone against going public again just so we can reactivate that "recent comments" function on our gmail? Checking up on the entire list of the month's entries is wicked much to manage.

I'm up for going public again.

Post a comment with your opinion.

  1. That really bugs me too. I'm all for going public again to regain the recent comments function. It seems like entries have been much less private in nature than they were when this blog was public or even when we were on the Bach Board!

  2. I'm okay with going public again, even though I don't use that 'recent comments' feature.

    We don't hear much from the majority of our contributors these days. Maybe going public will bring them back. They're a wonderful group of people and I do miss them. Have they gone elsewhere to muse? I recently took a peek on the Bachelor Board and didn't see a lot of familiar names.

  3. And, with a few delightful exceptions, I found many of the posts currently on the BB either sanctimonious, repetitive or, frankly, boring, pointless and poorly-written.

    I think the people whose names are on the contributors' list here did a lot to elevate the level of fun, analysis, wit and intelligence on the Bachelor Board.

  4. I wouldn't mind going public again. The biggest advantage to being private is that I think (I hope not naively) we could feel comfortable about using our actual names, supplying e-mail addresses, etc., if we wished.

    I'm surprised at how seldom many members of this group post and agree with Jim that it seems posts actually more often contained personal elements on the alphabet board than here. Can anyone suggest why this is? So many seemed to delight in each others' posts that I believed we would all become closer here than I perceive us to be overall. I know I came to feel quite affectionate about many...enjoyed their attitudes and takes on things generally. I totally agree with Marianna on this: "I think the people whose names are on the contributors' list here did a lot to elevate the level of fun, analysis, wit and intelligence on the Bachelor Board."

    Why did we post so much more often and more candidly on the BB? I realize I wasn't really a frequent poster (due to an ongoing family crisis I was dealing with), but I was an avid lurker. Could we indulge in a cyberlife for a time but find it difficult to allot time for it on an ongoing basis? Was Reid THAT appealing as a catalyst? Ummm, possibly! I certainly don't feel I must stick strictly to "romantic portrayals" here (NOT being critical, Nadya!).

    Thoughts?
