Reid, Kiptyn, Jesse and Michael up close in Calgary

Wish I could have met them today when they were in Calgary to make an appearance at the Calgary Women's Show. Instead, I've copied and pasted a post from someone named "M" (!) in Calgary. She met them today and this is what she posted on the Bachboard. Interesting observations.

"I just got back from Calgary's Women Show and had the chance to meet the "boys". I must say that they are four very ordinary looking men, they are all about 5'9, Kiptyn just a little taller maybe 5'10. Not gorgeous or anything like that.

Michael is really funny and a chatter box, and so is Jesse. Reid and Kiptyn...not so much. Reid was asked why he turned down The Bachelor and he said that he couldn't see himself being "that guy" for the rest of his life, he did say however, that being on the Bachelorette was a PR bonanza for his business and that he is enjoying his 15 minutes but looking forward to returning to a more normal life. He is still single!

Kiptyn was offered the Bachelor but the "negotiations broke down", whatever that means. He said that he couldn't elaborate due to contractual reasons. Reid, Kiptyn and Michael went on the show to find love...Jesse "for the experience". If you ask me he went on the show for publicity for his winery.

Michael said that he might marry Holly Hurst and that he is crazy in love. They are loving Calgary so much that they cancelled their trip to Banff tomorrow so that they could spend another night partying here. Michael said when Jillian found out they were coming to Calgary, she put them in touch with her friends here and they have been taking care of them and that they were awesome.

Reid and Kiptyn came across as really shy and very careful about what they said, Jesse and Michael just "let it all hung out"! They were telling stories that were quite off colour and they were both making fun of Jake. Reid and Kiptyn were kinder and more generous when they were asked about Jake."

  1. Currently, I'm surrounded by pix from age 0 to age 29. (mass cleaning to make room for the future) I needed a break from memory lane.

Thanks for this, M. He, Reid, just keeps getting better and better. I just wanna love him....me, and 874502845 other ladies ;) When I put his Bach"character" (which seems to be his personality) against several of the guys I presently know, man, they're not even shades of each other.

This week's been tough for my "getting over Reid" diet. First oranges, then neck nuzzles, now shy, gentlemanly, adorable, want-to-go-back-to-normal Reid. I think I just fell hard again :)

  2. "Four ordinary looking men".....this girl certainly has different taste in men than I do!?! If I'm not mistaken, I believe Ed is more her type from her postings on the BB. To each, her own I guess :)

  3. Good memory, Rem!

Out of all those men, I think Ed is the least attractive, to me, anyway. And I'm basing this purely on looks and bearing, not behaviour.

  4. Several posts by Miggysue (I think) on the alphabet board in the thread "I met Reid, Kiptyn, Jesse and Michael today" (again, I think) give interesting takes on the guys.

"Just got back from the Calgary Woman's Show a little while ago. I got to see Reid, and now, I can die a happy woman. Seriously, it was great to see them all. They all seemed down to earth and nice. I got some great close up pics of all of them, especially Reid. I even had the chance to get a pic with Kiptyn, but at the last minute, my friend messed up and couldn't figure out how to use my camera. It was sooooooo annoying...poor Kip had his arm around me and waited very patiently until some other women started to get antsy and told me to forget about... Boy, I was mad!!! But, at least I got to give him a side hug.

"The guys were all handing out roses at the end and my friend got one from Jesse...that was pretty cool. My friend asked Michael if he could break dance but he told her that there wasn't any music so he had to pass.

"I think they were better looking in person, especially Kiptyn. They were all class acts and had only the nicest things to say about Jillian... But man, they were raggin' on Jake, especially Michael and Jesse. It was a day well spent, if I do say so myself!"

Miggysue definitely didn't think these were "ordinary-looking" men. She made a number of posts, and it was abundantly clear that she was really, really impressed by Kiptyn in person, with Reid being a close second. She thought Kiptyn's smile was wonderful, and she noted his friendliness and how at ease he seemed to be...enjoying himself. Cool...I would have loved to have been there, too.

  6. Hi to you, too, Marianna, and to anyone else who happens to reads this.

I would have been posting more often but much of the time for a few months I was too distraught. I did lurk on here and read, though, which was a helpful escape at times.

My 38-year-old son, who is bi-polar manic, had his first psychotic break in 14-15 years this summer/fall (his third). His wife (of just 3 years) believes a slow slide into the actual break may have begun as far back as April. In July he ended up in really bad shape and was involuntarily committed to mental health institutions in August and again in September. He's out now and well-stablized, but his life is in a shambles...sad. He lives in the area, and my husband and I were directly involved in some of the ongoing crises and indirectly by telephone in all of them.

Life is calm now, thank goodness, and we have something to look forward to as well, 2-1/2 weeks in Barbados beginning Nov. 26!!!

  7. Dearest Scotty,

Big, huge hug. I'm glad to see you around here again. :) Thanks for sharing about your boy. I'll pray for you and him that he finds what he needs.

    Enjoy, enjoy your break.

    Much love,
    Leen :)
