On June 09, US Weekly said this about Jill and Ed going through a "rough patch":
"Like any other couple, our life is not perfect," Bachelorette star Jillian Harris tells US about her life with Ed Swiderski, 30. "We still love each other but there have been tiny bumps in the road". (One source of tension: "I like to be a hermit and Ed likes to go out with his friends."
Still, the designer, 30, who lives with her fiance of one year in Chicago says she's proud of how they've worked through their issues by communicating and giving each other space when needed.
And while their planned move to San Francisco is on hold, a wedding is not.
"I don't know when we're going to get married," she says. "But we're still moving forward."

The Break-up
We were contacted last week by some tabloids, then a few messages tipping off some hot news coming in. This happens from time to time, though we have been doing a lot of press lately due to the new season, so it's expected.
Allegedly, Jill and I broke up and I have been seen "partying" and "around other girls." This is completely absurd. I mean, how in the world is this possible that I am seen out late...and I'm in the presence of women? The nerve of these people...just can't believe it!
Wait. Well maybe I can believe it. Last I checked I do not live in a monastery, and I'm definitely a bit of a frat boy at heart. Let's face it, I have fourteen of my college buddies living within two square miles of me. And I went to Michigan State, so these guys don't mess around. Not to mention Chicago is one of the world's largest adult playgrounds (and the most bars per capita in the US -very proud of this one). Don't get me wrong, I'm not out dating strippers and wearing Ed Hardy shirts either.
That said, Jill and I have had a few bumps here and there. Believe it or not, we actually have disagreed a few times too (I know, shocking!). And we are working through these things together. It's definitely not always easy, but we always stay positive.
There will always be rumors I'm sure. And there isn't a whole lot we can do about that. So keep 'em coming so I can restart my 15 minute clock over to the right! :)

Also, she tweeted a link to her most recent interview, where she conspicuously refrains from mentioning Ed or her upcoming wedding at all (once the subject of oh so many tweets).

Finally, she appeared on Breakfast Television in Vancouver a day or so ago, waving her hand around, showing that she is not wearing her engagement ring.
What does all this mean? Is JED dead or alive?

For all the amusing material this couple has given us for snark, witty repartee, amateur psychology and reality celebrity critique, this could boil down to nothing more than the kind of unraveling ill suited couples experience all the time--the only noteworthy element being the time, effort, money and air time devoted to persuading the viewing public it wasn't going to happen!

Jillian has also commented (either yesterday or today) on twitter that she doesn't want to leave Vancouver, as it feels like an "oasis" to her.

After seeing this post, I checked out Jill with Riaz on BT TV. For me, the most notable change in Jill had less to do with the very conspicuous absence of her kilowatt ring and more to do with the way she reacted to the FRC footage.
ReplyDeleteIn the past, when Jill's been shown footage of the FRC, she typically swoons over Ed: "awww, there's my Eddie." All we heard this time was "oh, there are some cute scenes."
Also, I noticed that Jill avoided saying Ed's name AT ALL the whole interview. She said "we" a lot but never "Ed and I." Given past appearances, it's just a very marked difference.
With Ali as the new front-woman for the series, I think that the truth will come out. Not only is Jill's career more established (she has Yumberi, EMHE) but I think that her contract with ABC ends in July. Notice that Melissa set the record straight in March 2010, a year after the fiasco. We'll have started and probably will continue to see Jill spending more time on the road, less time in Chicago. We'll keep hearing about how she misses Vancouver. We'll get more articles distancing her from the Bachelorette and pushing EMHE. So that when they do break up, it'll be a function of distance and career.
And, I gotta say, I can't wait for the day that Jill walks away from this scene. I've always liked her, so I just want her to find a decent guy.

Despite rumors of Ed Swiderski's rampant infidelity and deception, The Bachelorette star Jillian Harris is still standing by her final rose recipient.
For now.
Rumors speculated that the two might be on the verge of breaking up after she told a newspaper about a tear-filled conversation with her father re: Ed's alleged womanizing. The two then cancelled dinner plans in Las Vegas abruptly.
But Ed Swiderski somehow climbed back into her good graces, and the two made a surprise showing at the Palazzo's LAVO restaurant after all - three hours late.
"They just showed up," a source said. "They were clearly putting on a united front. They had their arms together. She looked like she was really in love with him."
"They drank wine while deciding what to have. They looked comfortable with each other. She's beautiful in person, even better than what you see on TV."
Swiderski's affections were suspect and his casual glances at other women did not seem as innocent given the allegations against him by two ex-girlfriends.
Lindsey Johnson claims Ed led her on - and even had sex with her eight days after he got engaged to Jillian. That's not exactly a smooth move if it's true.
Another girl, Bethany Steffen, says Ed also dated her, and sent "sext" messages to her throughout and following his tenure on The Bachelorette this spring.
Harris admitted crying on the phone with her dad regarding the stories of Ed Swiderski's possible cheating ways. But according to The Province newspaper, she maintained the couple was brushing off the controversy and moving forward.
"I am not affected by this," she said. "We really plan on trying to get out of the limelight and trying to get on with our lives. It's been a hard couple of days but it only made us stronger and it's only made us communicate with each other more."
