About the "Check This Out" Post

Hey, Everyone!

Just a quick heads up! This post and comments discuss some of the possible manipulations of this Bachelorette season by producers and certain of the main players, according to people who claim to have the "inside track". It is not published here to promote rumor-mongering nor to promote any one side or viewpoint.

It has been copied to this blog from other sources by the authors concerned, in order to provide information that would lead to reflection and ensuing discussion by the blog members. One of the purposes of this blog is for its members to continue their conversations about how love manifests itself in their lives and to relate that to what they see in the media. Examining information that perhaps the media themselves are in some way manipulating how we experience love stories, as the viewing public, is a part of our ongoing discussion.

As such, what is posted here is relevant to our purpose. If anyone is personally uninterested in exploring the content discussed here, by all means, simply skip this thread, and hop around to any of the lovely discussions going on all around this blog. Remember that comments are consistently being added even to older posts, in order to continue discussion of that topic. Check back on all your favorite threads often.

Cheers to all!

  1. I feel bad for bringing this into the blog now. I'm sorry! I hope it didn't offend anyone or make anyone uncomfortable. I really did think it was just something that would promote discussion.

  2. You should absolutely not feel bad. This is what this board is all about; open discussion of ALL viewpoints. We can't always look at only the sublime and the lovely. We are all attempting to find our own realities. Without looking at the bad, the ugly and the patently ridiculous as well, we won't end up having very valid discussions.

I posted my "disclaimer" because Leen seemed unsure about having posted the source material. This was my way of saying that, "No, this is valid to our discussion", while at the same time letting readers know that if they aren't interested, they don't need to read it.

After all this is a blog of the BBBB's, by the BBBB's, and for the BBBB's and there is so much happening on here (isn't it great?!) that people can totally choose which "rooms" they want to visit, as in any other group blog. And in a related issue, I think we all agree that we may not agree with other's opinions, but we will totally defend their right to say it.

    Love,
    Nadya

  3. Thanks, Nadya, for the support. Especially if the blog is under review, I did not want to jeopardize the existence of such an intellectually stimulating, supportive place with tabloid-esque "info". As you stated, I thought it pertinent to our discussion of romance and love that we acknowledge the rueful machinations behind this one show that utterly convinced us of something that wasn't there.

  4. You're very welcome, LLL:-)

Actually, I looked into the "contract" language with Google for setting up the blog. They do not review or moderate any of the content itself. That is done at the sole discretion of the administrator and authors of the blog.

Everything written on here is the intellectual property of the authors. We own it. No one else, as opposed to the BachBoards, where ABC has full ownership of anything posted there. I thought that was interesting.

One can even have "adult" content in a blog...with the proviso that you indicate that in your application to Google. It entails extra paperwork and severe repurcussions if you don't 'fess up ahead of time. But it is allowed...no curtailing of the right to free speech here.
